The ILL staff may be able to obtain the material needed and is ready to assist you with your requests. However, success of retrieving material is based on the Interlibrary Loan code of the American Library Association, copyright law and regulations of individual libraries.
Books, magazine articles, and other materials requested by HCC Faculty, Students, and Staff can be sent through ARIEL, ground courier service, or faxed to the Hartfield Library typically within four to eight working days depending on the availability of the respective item.
The library does not charge for ILL services, however some charges from other libraries can be substantially prohibitive. In such cases, we reserve the right to contact the requesting party for support with additional charges that Hartfield Library is unable to absorb or the library has the right not to process a request under these possible conditions.
Renewal requests are possible, however material obtained through Interlibrary Loan are not the property of Hartfield Library and the lending library has the right to deny a renewal request or recall the book before the due date. We will submit a renewal request if the book is not marked "Renewal not allowed" and you contact the ILL Department at least 5 business days before the due date listed on the band of the book.
Excessive number of overdue ILL books may result in the blocking of library cards and further use of the ILL service. Unpaid and/or unreturned ILL books will result in blocking student records resulting in the failure to receive grades in addition to prohibiting registration or graduation until the items have been returned or restitution for the item/s has/have been made.
