Circulation Policies
To borrow items from the library, you must have a valid, bar-coded Henderson Community College library card. To get a library card, a patron must provide a photo ID.
Time Limits on Borrowing Students and Service Area Patrons

Reserve Materials Determined by the faculty member.
- Renewals: There is a one-time renewal per item, after which the material must be shelved for two working days before the patron can check-out the item again.
- Reserve materials may not be renewed.
Overdue Materials
- Patrons with overdue materials will be assessed a fine of:
- ten cents ($.10) per day, per item for books; maximum fine of $3.00 if book is returned.
- one dollar ($1.00) per day, per item for audio-visual materials; maximum fine of $30.00 if audio-visual materials are returned.
- one dollar ($1.00) per hour per item for two hour reserve items; maximum fine of $10.00 if reserve item is returned.
- one dollar per day ($1.00) per item for overnight or seven day reserve items; maximum fine of $10.00 if reserve item is returned.
- The replacement charge for lost or badly damaged materials will be the price of the item, if known, or a minimum of $50.00 per book and $60.00 per video, whichever is greater. Replacement copies presented by patrons will not be accepted.
- Patrons who generate a bill at Hartfield Library will have checkout privileges revoked until the missing items are returned and/or all related costs are paid. Moreover, students who neglect to take care of this matter before the end of the respective semester will not be allowed to register for classes in any subsequent semester.
