2002-03 Notable Accomplishments
- The Pathfinder for the Library II was converted to an online format and is now available via the library’s web page. Faculty, staff, and students working at off-campus locations may now access Pathfinder information.
- The library’s collections continued to be weeded. The removal of dated, obsolete materials was completed over a three-month period. The intent is to continue making the library’s collections more current and useful. De-selection was emphasized in the materials supporting the following programs: Business; Medical Assisting; Clinical Lab Tech; and Nursing. Over 1,000 items were de-selected, removed from the shelves, the library’s online card catalog (Voyager), and OCLC.
- Barb Cummings, Senior Library Tech for Circulation Services, received her bachelor’s degree from Western Kentucky University in May. Her continued education will benefit the library in the areas of reference and collection development.
- Lynda Sinnett, Library Tech for Cataloging and ILLs, received her associate’s degree from Henderson Community College in May. Her continued education will benefit the library in the areas of cataloging and computer support.
- Mike Knecht and Kevin Reid published the article, “Teaching the Evaluation of Library Resources” in The Kentucky Journal of Excellence in College Teaching.
- Mike Knecht published the article, “Cell Phones in the Stacks” in American Libraries.
- Mike Knecht published the article, “Business Office 101: Lessons from Outside the Library” in Kentucky Libraries.
- The library received new carpeting during the summer. All staff members participated in the moving of books, furniture, and computers during this installation.
