FY 2002 - 2003
The staff of the Hartfield Library focused on the areas of collection development and bibliographic instruction this year. Extensive weeding occurred in the circulating and reference collections with nearly 2000 titles being removed from the shelves. The library skills workbook for English 101 students (Pathfinder to the Library I) was transferred to the online format, and the process has started for the English 102 workbook. Professional development seminars offering information on web page design were attended in preparation for this project. Other projects include the creation and development of the MS Access database listing all the titles owned by the library according to academic discipline, the design of new brochures and handouts for several academic departments on campus, and the publication of articles and encyclopedia entries by library staff. The library staff has also placed more emphasis on strategic planning for the department and individual planning. It is this effort that has prepared the library for next year’s activities and responsibilities.
