Community Chorus
The Henderson Community Chorus, directed by Heather McCormick and accompanied by Jica Crafton, is a non-auditioned community/student ensemble that performs each semester, generally in the Henderson Fine Arts Center. The chorus is offered for credit or non-credit. Music is provided, and the only cost to participants is concert wear (generally black pants or long skirt with white, long-sleeved blouse for ladies and tux or black/dark suit for men). There is no age requirement, although singers must be able to handle a lengthy weekly practice session. Music-reading is not a requirement, but it is beneficial. Rehearsals for the chorus are on Tuesday evenings from 6:30-8:30, in the TV Studio in the Library at Henderson Community College. The chorus will not meet in spring, 2007, due to the musical rehearsals (see below). For further information call Heather McCormick at 270-831-9780 or email her at heatherm.mccormick@kctcs.edu.
Plans for spring, 2007: The Henderson Community Chorus will collaborate with Henderson Community Theatre and Henderson Area Arts Alliance to present the musical Once Upon a Mattress. Auditions for the musical are on Jan. 16-17 with call-backs on Jan. 18. Rehearsals will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:30-9:30 with performances on April 13-14.
