ESL Grammar Exercises
Specifically designed for students for whom English is a second language
(Clicking on the underlined title will take you to the site. You may not be able to use all of the resources from your computer, but almost everything should work just fine in an on-campus computer lab. You may not find exercises useful to you at every site. I have tried to list the sites that seem most useful first.)
Activities for ESL Students: This site is sponsored by The Internet TESL Journal and contains exercises contributed by ESL teachers. I am starting you at a page that groups exercises as "Easy," "Medium," and "Difficult." You can use the other links on the page to go to other parts of this site. (If your computer has trouble with these quizzes, click on the HTML-only button.)
ESL Blues: This site, sponsored by Collège Édouard-Montpetit in Quebec Canada, contains many, many interactive exercises covering many grammar concepts. There is a lot of material here, so you may have to hunt for what you want. But it will be fun because much of the material is presented in the form of games.
ESL Resources, Exercises and Handouts at the Online Writing Laboratory at Purdue University has fewer interactive exercises than some of the other sites, but it has handouts and exercises that can be printed out on a number of subjects.
The ESL Quiz Center at Dave's ESL Cafe has some simple grammar quizzes and quizzes on English idioms. When you finish those, you might try some of the other quizzes, or follow the link at the bottom to Dave's ESL Cafe, one of the most information packed ESL sites on the Web.
