Important Notice
Henderson Community College is committed to a healthy lifestyle for our students and staff.
HCC has several trails both inside and out for you to walk on for exercise or relaxation.
HCC has created a Fitness Room in the basement of the Student Center. The Fitness Room includes treadmills, exercise bikes, and more to promote a healthier lifestyle among the college students and staff.
HCC follows county laws on smoking. Current HCC policy requires no smoking within a reasonable (25 foot) distance of any windows or doors that can open. Note locations with “butt butlers,” which signify appropriate smoking spots. Faculty and staff may ask you move to an appropriate spot if you are found smoking near entrances/windows. If campus staff notice littering of cigarette butts and smoking in doorways, a more restrictive smoking policy may be developed. Think About It! If you smoke, consider quitting! As the Kentucky Personnel Cabinet notes, “Cigarette smoke contains a deadly mix of more than 7,000 chemicals; hundreds are toxic and about 70 can cause cancer. Tobacco use causes more than 5 million deaths per year and is responsible for about one in five deaths each year in the U.S. The life expectancy of a smoker is approximately 14 years shorter than that of a nonsmoker. Monetary costs are high, too, totaling more than $193 billion in lost productivity and health care.” Need help quitting? Check out these resources: KY Personnel Cabinet
