Clearing Browser Information

Do you need to clear your browser's cache, history, and cookies?

If you are experiencing problems with a website, one of the first things you should do is clear your browser's cache, cookies, and history.

After clearing your browser's cache and cookies, exit your browser completely before attempting to access the site again.

Windows

Internet Explorer 8, 9, 10 and 11

  1. Click Tools, and select Delete Browsing History.
  2. Deselect Preserve Favorites website data, and select Temporary Internet files, Cookies, History and Form Data.
  3. Click Delete.
Firefox 29 and later
  1. From the Tools menu, select Clear Recent History. You may have to press ALT on the keyboard to make the History menu appear, or you can press CTRL+SHIFT+DEL on the keyboard.
  2. From the Time range to clear: drop-down menu, select the desired range; to clear your entire cache, select Everything.
  3. Select at least Cookies, Cache, and Active Logins, then click the Clear Now button.

Chrome

  1. In the browser bar, enter: chrome://settings/clearBrowserData
  2. Select the items you want to clear (e.g., Clear browsing history, Clear download history, Empty the cache, Delete cookies and other site and plug-in data).
  3. From the Obliterate the following items from: drop-down menu, you can choose the period of time for which you want to clear cached information. To clear your entire cache, select the beginning of time.
  4. Click Clear browsing data.

Apple iOS (iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad)

Mobile Safari (as observed on iOS )7

To clear cache and cookies:

  1. From the home screen, tap Settings, and then tap Safari
  2. Near the bottom of Safari's settings screen, tap the buttons for Clear Cookies and Data.
  3. To confirm, tap Clear Cookies and Data again.


To clear history:

  1. From the home screen, tap Settings, and then tap Safari.
  2. Near the bottom of Safari's  screen, tap the Clear History.
  3. To confirm, tap Clear History again. 

Android

Built in Browser (as observed on Android5):
 

  1. Start your browser by tapping the Internet app. 
  2. Tap the 3 dots in the top-right corner and in the menu that appears, scroll down and tap Settings
  3. Find and tap "Privacy ", then tap Clear Browsing Data at the very bottom. 
  4. In the window that opens, select at least Cache and Cookies site data,  then tap Clear at he bottom right. 

Google Chrome: 

  1. Start the Chrome app.
  2. Tap the 3 dots in the top-right corner and in the menu that appears, scroll down and tap Settings
  3. Find and tap Privacy, then tap CLEAR BROWSING DATA at the very bottom. 
  4. In the window that opens, select at least Cache and Cookies site data, then tap CLEAR at the bottom-right.
