Application Procedure
Applicants must meet the following admission criteria prior to March 1 of odd years (e.g. 05, 07) for consideration for the Fall Semester to NPN 100, NPN 105 and NPN 110:
Attend a scheduled Pre-Admission
Conference*
Complete a Personal Data Form (completed at the Pre-admission Conference)
Submit the following to the college
admissions office:
1. current application to the college
2. high school transcripts or official GED score
3. all post-high school transcripts
4. ACT or SAT scores
*Pre-Admission Conferences - Dates for the conferences will be the first Wednesday in
September and November and the third Wednesday in
January, February, May, and June at 4:00 PM and last for one hour. The conference will be held in the Sullivan Technology Center,, Room 311. To request additional conference dates call 270-831-9740.
Admission - Preference may be given to applicants with the
following credentials:
Cumulative GPA of 2.5 in 12 or more hours of
college work
High school ranking in the upper 50 percent or
GED standard score of 50 or better
Composite score of 17 or above on the ACT or
equivalent on the SAT
Kentucky residents or students residing within the
Henderson Community College Service area will be given
preference.
Consideration Process
To be considered for the PN Program the following process will be followed:
Complete applications procedure as listed
Return “letter of inquiry” with your intentions
Return “verification form” with correct academic
information
Receive “admission status letter” from nursing program
Return “card of acceptance/rejection” if applicable
Applicants will be notified either in writing and/or via email of
admission to the Nursing Program.
Additional Requirements
The following will be required after admission to the program:
Documentation of successful completion of a minimum 75 hour nursing assistant course or its equivalent
Verified Credentials Background Check from Henderson Community College
Hepatitis and Tetanus Immunizations
AHA BLS Healthcare Provider CPR Certification
The following laboratory tests: CBC*, Urinalysis*, TB Skin Test*, Drug Screen*, Pertussis, Varicella, Rubella and Rubeola Titre. The Varicella, Rubeola and Rubella Titre may be waived if documentation can be provided of receipt of the MMR Series and personal knowledge of having chicken pox. (*Must be no older than one year.)
