Application Procedure

Applicants must meet the following admission criteria prior to March 1 of odd years (e.g. 05, 07) for consideration for the Fall Semester to NPN 100, NPN 105 and NPN 110:

1. Attend a scheduled Pre-Admission Conference.*
2. Complete a Personal Data Form (completed at the Pre-Admission Conference).
3. Submit a "current" application to the college.
4. Submit high school transcripts or official GED scores.
5. Submit transcripts of all post-high school education.
6. Submit results of the ACT or SAT.

*Pre-Admission Conferences

Dates for the conferences will be the first Wednesday in September and November and the third Wednesday in January, February, May, and June at 4:00 p.m. and last for one hour. The conference will be held in the Academic Technical Building, Room 306.

Admission

Preference may be given to applicants with the following credentials:

• Cumulative GPA of 2.5 in 12 or more hours of college work.
• High school ranking in the upper 50 percent or GED standard score of 50 or better.
• Composite score of 17 or above on the ACT or equivalent on the SAT.
• A Kentucky resident or live within the Henderson Community College service area.

Consideration Process

To be considered for the PN Program the following process will be followed:

1. Complete application procedures as listed.
2. Return "Letter of Interest".
3. Return "Verification Form" with correct academic information.
4. Receive "Admission Status Letter".
5. If accepted, return "Letter of Acceptance/Rejection".

Applicants will be notified either in writing and/or via e-mail of admission to the Practical Nursing Program.

Additional Requirements

The following will be required after admission to the program:

• Documentation of successful completion of a minimum 75 hour nursing assistant course or its equivalent.
• Indiana and Kentucky Criminal Checks
• Hepatitis and Tetanus Immunizations
• AHA BLS Healcare Provider CPR Certification or ARC Professional CPR Certification
• The following laboratory tests: CBC*, Urinalysis*, TB Skin Test*, Drug Screen*, Pertussis, Varicella, Rubella and Rubeola Titre. The Varicella, Rubella Titre may be waived if documentation can be provided of receipt of the MMR Series and personal knowledge of having chicken pox.

* Must be no older than one year.
