Hands-On Career Exploration--Summer Camp Style

Join Henderson Community College for an electrifying spring break camp in April! Middle school students are invited to attend this FREE camp provided by Henderson Community College Workforce Solutions.

WHO: Middle school students in Henderson, Union, and Webster counties (currently grades 6-8)

WHAT: A unique opportunity for campers to participate in a variety of career exploration activities related to energy production, distribution, conservation, and safety. Students will visit local energy producers and distribution companies, interact with industry professionals and learn about their occupations, and train in electrical safety. These are some of the activities we have planned with corporate and educational partners throughout the region:

     •Working modern coal mine tour
     •Utility company tour and presentation
     •Live wire safety demonstration
     •Power plant operation and safety presentation
     •Hands-on learning activities on topics like electricity, wind power, and solar power
     •Pole climbing demonstration and line technician interview
     •Replica 1930's coal mine experience

WHEN: Tuesday-Thursday, April 8-10, 9am-3pm

WHERE: Henderson Community College, STC 310

After registration, you will be sent parent permission forms to complete and return to Henderson Community College Workforce Solutions (packets are also available on campus in STC 312).
